In Africa and Asia alone, an incredible 770 million people suffer from hunger. | © Veterinarians without Borders

The World Food Day should draw attention to the fact that millions of people worldwide are still suffering from hunger. The concern about whether the next meal will provide enough food for oneself and the family is unfortunately omnipresent for many people in developing countries, but it is hardly imaginable for people in...

This is the title of the current aid project of Veterinarians without Borders and at the same time the focus of the campaign VACCINATE FOR AFRICA 2020. Our goal is to hold workshops on food fraud in the poorest regions of the world and to carry out on-site inspection. In cooperation with local food control authorities and universities, we train experienced...

Meshack Dionis is proud of his first rice harvest! Last year he took part in our ongoing training programme Mobile school for Sandawe agro-pastoralists. "The rice is of very good quality!", tells us Meshack during...

Danke allen IMPFEN FÜR AFRIKA-Tierärztinnen und Tierärzten!

Ihnen allen gilt unser ganz besonderer Dank!

The work of veterinarians is associated with great responsibility for animals and humans. Not only are they experts on animal health. For many pet owners, the vet is also a savior in need, they encourage or give comfort.

In developing countries, veterinary work focuses on livestock farming. Sudan, Ethiopia and Tanzania are those African countries with the largest numbers of...

At the Vetmeduni Vienna, the working group "Global Food Safety", headed by Prof. Dagmar Schoder (President of Veterinarians without Borders), conducts research on this important topic. In 2008, the group was able to uncover a food scandal concerning milk powder in Africa that was contaminated with melamine and lead. Prof. Schoder was thus...

Even low concentrations of harmful substances in baby food have serious consequences for babies and toddlers. | © Veterinarians without Borders

Africa depends on milk powder imports due to food bottlenecks. In addition, mothers are often malnourished or HIV-positive. To feed their babies, they depend on milk powder. But: Even low levels of harmful substances have serious consequences for babies and toddlers.
